The value of a hand of cards depends on what you’re dealt. Some cards have great potential and some leave you few options but to bluff your way through to the next hand or fold altogether. If life were a deck of cards, some cards would provide great joy and happiness, and others would bring tremendous sorrow and pain—and everything in between. The important distinction is that in the game of life, you don’t get a re-deal—you can’t even throw out cards you don’t like for fresh ones. The cards you’ve been dealt are the cards you have to stick with.

But did your cards get there as a result of your hard work or a run of bad luck? Were some passed down from your parents or a friend or even a stranger? Or did God give them to you? Regardless of how they got in your hand, God expects you to play the hand you’ve been dealt…and play to win.

The reality is we all have both good cards and bad cards in the game of life. Nobody has all aces or all jokers. And we all have cards we wish were a bit different. And every now and then we get a wild card of unexpected blessing or total unpredictability dealt our way and even a joker that throws our life into chaos. The real issue is not the cards you have; it’s how you play your hand.

Join us for a great weekend.

Officially the retreat starts Friday at 6pm; you are welcome to arrive earlier and enjoy the day. Following our closing service on Saturday evening, the retreat officially ends and “Guy's Night” begins. Alcohol is allowed after 5pm Saturday - no earlier.
